Evaluation:
- Class participation (100 points):
To make the class work effectively, active participation in the class by all students is expected. This means that students must have done the assigned reading and come to each class ready to engage in the class activities. Each time a student fails to attend a class, a 4-page writing assignment is required to summarize the reading assignment within a week. Missing the class more than three times automatically disqualifies the student from continuing the class.
- Curriculum Issues [300 points]
- Contemporary Issues in Curriculum is divided into 6 parts.
- For each part, every student will be responsible for reading and reflecting/reporting on one of the articles in that section.
- The reports will be handed in on Tuesdays, starting with August 31.
- Curriculum Project [500 points]: DRAFT 1=>vocab curriculum.docx WOD crossword.docx EDUC6603-UNIT DEVELOPMENT MODEL.docx EDUC6603-UNIT DEVELOPMENT PLAN - DRAFT 1.docx MLA Quiz.docx Example first page of MLA format paper.docx wod example MLA.docx vocab_curriculum and then some.docx
- Candidates will develop a unit plan for their classroom; hopefully one that will actually be utilized.
- Candidates will include a pre- and post assessment to determine effectiveness.
- Included will also be the techniques for engaging students and for extending their learning.
- This plan should cover at least a week, but it can encompass a greater time frame.
- This plan should focus on the candidate’s grade and incorporate those standards that are applicable.
- consider the following to make it interesting:
- purpose
- ownership
- creative efficiency
- competence
- aesthetically pleasing
- Final [Tentative] [100 points]:
- There will be a final exam in which students will demonstrate mastery of the class.
- This final will probably be a take home and will focus on a case study.
