V. COURSE REQUIREMENTS/ASSIGNMENTS
LITERATURE REVIEW BINDER (Due: immediately upon arrival to class )
This assignment will assist the doctoral student in preparing chapter 2 of the formal proposal.
Specific requirements are detailed in separate documents.
MANUSCRIPT FOR PROFESSIONAL PUBLICATION (Due date is set according to which week you are on campus) Develop a complete manuscript for submission for publication in a professional journal in your field of study. Follow the guidelines for the journal and actually submit your article for publication.
CLASS PRESENTATIONS OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND ATTENDANCE (daily) The graduate student will practice presenting and defending his/her work through an interactive and interesting presentation. The presentation grading checklist provides the areas that will be observed.
Intensives adhere to stringent attendance policies. You are required to be in attendance and actively participate for the entire week. Any missed classes will result in an “F” grade; tardiness will be computed by the student receiving a 50 point deduction for each half-hour increment (starting at 5 minutes). These courses are listed as ‘intensive’ to depict their rigorous nature. You must plan travel to take into account possible delays. It is also advisable to reschedule your course if you become ill. Students should plan to be working in groups Monday-Thursday evenings. These mandatory evening hours allow the students to leave the intensive with all the work completed.
PARTICIPATION Collegial collaboration is a significant portion of the intensive learning process. Graduate students are expected to be active listeners and participants. Please do not assume that your silence means consent and that the points for participation do not have to be earned.
